How to Use Salt Around the House

Salt goes in just about every recipe you can imagine. But believe it or not salt can be used for more than just cooking. Some things are common salt uses, some other uncommon, and things that wouldn't have occurred to you.

You can get rid of sticky residue from an iron. Get a plain piece of paper and sprinkle it with salt. Run the iron over it, don't use the steam.

Since salt it used to dry things out you wouldn't think that it ca keep chicken moist. When cooking a full chicken or turnkey, fill the body cavity with salt and it will stay moist.

If you don't have rock salt to get rid of ice on your sidewalks, you can substitute with salt. Just sprinkle the salt where there's ice.

Salt can make whip cream fluffier and whip up faster. Just add a pinch before you start whipping.
