how to article on saving money on your power bill

With the rising price of gasoline, more and more people are looking for ways to cut their spending. There is no better way to do this than to reduce your monthly power bill. With the summer months coming up, these tips can help you save up to 25% on your monthly bill.

Saving money on your power bill is quite easy to accomplish. To start, you can purchase energy efficient light bulbs. These do cost more than regular light bulbs, but the long-term savings is with it. To add to saving, remember you do not have to fill every spot with a light bulb. For a fixture that can take 4 bulbs, try only using 2 for savings.

Another way to save money on your power bill is to buy a programmable thermostat. You can set a programmable thermostat to allow your house to warm up during the day, or to heat up during the winter months, and then cool down or heat back up an hour or so before you get home. This allows your central air system to run less, saving you money on your power bill, and increasing the life of your unit.

Another way is to look at each room in your house, and how often you are in these rooms. If you have a spare bedroom that you rarely use, close the vents in the room, and keep the door shut. This way, your central air system is cooling or heating less space. allowing it to work more efficiently.

Another way is to quit using the dishwasher. This uses quite a bit of hot water, making your hot water heater work even harder. Wash those dishes by hand after each use to save money as well. Also, turn down your refridgerator a little bit, and that will use less power as well.

These steps may not be the easiest to follow, but trying some of these out will show you the huge difference it can make in your power bill, and give you some extra cash for that liquid gold that fuels your vehicle! Also, do not forget that showing your "green side" can be a great way to save money, like using flourescent light bulbs or solar panels.
