Becoming the next top model is most teenager's dream and many new moms dream of it to regain self confidence. But where do you begin and what do you do first? Follow these steps and you'll be well on your way to learning what path is best for you!

Lets face it, in today's society if you're not attractive its not easy to become a top model.  But being bright and talented can help!  You'll want to research the different modeling types so you can decide which will fit you best.  Find out which ones are in high demand.  The common ones are glamour, sports, fashion, product, runway, fitness, commercial, body parts, and commercial modeling.  Fashion modeling has taken first place in the industry but don't limit yourself.

Age and gender doesn't matter.  Just work on yourself if you want to top the list.  Remember, modeling is an art.  You can expose and share your talents to the world by speaking through your looks, body language, and style.

In today's world, "Corporate America" is about investment and man power.  This isn't true with modeling.  When you have a good portfolio, you are investing in your own talents.  Your portfolio should include headshots with a variety of expressions, and full-length shots in different outfits.  Have a personal website!

You have to have self confidence.  No secret to this!  Most celebrities were models at once.  Their careers grew because of the self confidence they had.  So don't let think negative and believe you have no talent.  You can build your skills as you go.  The better your confidence level, the higher your growth!

Once you've picked an agency, and you've submitted your portfolio, give them about a month before you follow-up with a phone call.  In the meantime, you can also look for other opportunities locally.  Department stores, design schools, and your favorite boutiques may need models for upcoming fashion shows.  I personally started modeling for department stores at local malls by doing their runway shows when they were debuting new clothing lines.  It was a lot of fun and a great way to network and get yourself out there!

*  Take notes from the industry's greatest top models like Tyra Banks and Heidi Klum.

*  There are a lot of scams out there, so do your research before you pick a modeling agency.

*  If the agency asks for money upfront, they're probably not legit!

*  Have fun and good luck!!
