1. You probably have skills that you have already acquired that would qualify you for a new career. Think back to your educational background as well as remember all of the things that you have been doing in life in jobs previously held. Maybe you can type but never held a job as a typist; well that is a skill that you can use, maybe as a teacher you articulated your students from one grade to another; well this has prepared you to work as a recruiter; Lets say you worked in your family business and were in charge of hiring as well as your employees well this has prepared you to work in a business and run the personnel department or to work in human resources. If you are having a difficult finding your hidden strengths then hire your self a resume writer and or a career counselor to explore your hidden talents. It is worth the money!
2. Develop a brand new career that you would enjoy. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to go to work everyday and totally enjoy what you are doing while making a hefty salary? Well this is possible so spend time drilling your self on what you really want to do with the rest of your working career. In order to change careers you have to:
· See your self doing the new career skill. What ever career that you see yourself in, you’ve got to want it and actually feel good with what you see yourself doing.
· Decide what you have to do in order to achieve your goal. You may have to go back to school or you may already have the requirements to master whatever it is that you want. Don’t let anything stop you from achieving your career change.
· Think about how long it will take. It really doesn’t make any difference how long it will take you to achieve your goal. The important thing is that this is what you really want to do career wise.
· Make a plan to prepare yourself. Your plan would include the specifics of achieving your career goal. You may be ready to grab the job or you may need to go for additional training to get a degree, certification, or other training. You may choose to go to a Junior college, college, university or some other training program. Some times there are trainings offered through the business or organization that you would like to work with.
· Work the plan. It is important to prepare so go ahead and do what you need to do in order to make your career move and be patient because things do take time to manifest life. So take that training, enroll in school and etcetera. Just move forward with your plan and if you work with your plan it will work and you will be able to make your career move.
