Intriguing Rock Formations That Resemble Humans

Some rock formations are extremely unique having a close resemblance to human or part of human's anatomy.

Boniface or El Indio

This unusual rock formation is located in Canary Island. At the top of a Caldera there's a rock formation that from one angle looks distinctly like Napoleon Bonaparte, or an Indian that's why it's called Boniface or El Indio.

One of the most intriguing rock formations recently discovered by Google Earth spotters is the strange rock formation in the prairies of central Canada that looks like the face of an Indian. The rock formation is in Alberta, Canada about 300km southeast of Calgary, near the border with Saskatchewan. The rock formation's "face" measures about 255m across and it's about 225m long. You can check it out in Google Maps or just enter 50° 0'38.20"N 110° 6'48.32"W in Google Earth.

This peculiar rock formation is called the Indian Face or Rock Face.

Neptune 's Finger

The rock looks like a finger pointing up to the sky: Neptune's Finger is located in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California, Mexico. The area where it is located is also a famous diving site.

Old Man of the Mountain

This picture of the Old Man of the Mountain was taken on 26 April 2003, about six days prior to its collapse. A late spring snow occurred the night before. The Old Man of the Mountain, also known as the Great Stone Face or the Profile, was a series of five granite cliff ledges on Cannon Mountain in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, USA that, when viewed from the correct angle, appeared to be the jagged profile of a face. The outcrop was 1,200 feet (370 m) above Profile Lake, and measured 40 feet (12 m) tall and 25 feet (7.6 m) wide.

A Woman Carrying a Baby on Her Back

This rock formation that looks like a woman carrying a baby on her back is popularly known as Amah Rock - Hong Kong, China. The rock is approximately 15 meters in height. It stands above the entrance to the Lion Rock Tunnel, within Lion Rock Country Park. The rock is a popular tourist destination. It is also a place of worship for Chinese women and stands as a symbol of women's loyalty and faithfulness.

This human look-a-like rock formation is large stack of granite located in Dartmoor Great Britain. With a bit of imagination, you can figure out a human face on its rocky outline. According to a local folklore, a Norman hunter went out with his hounds so engrossed in chasing hares that they accidentally crashed into a coven of witches disrupting their ceremony; the witches in revenge turned him into stone.

The most well-known of all the countless mushroom rock formations along the coastal area of Yehliu in Taiwan is a rock that is shaped like an Egyptian woman's head. Other rock formations in the area include a shoe, a tofu among many others.
