Flavorful food with the least amount of fuss is the goal of many cooks. Cooking meatloaf can fall into that category. This recipe for meatloaf calls for ground beef. If you prefer a lower fat version, try using half beef and half ground turkey breast. It also called for bottled chili sauce. If you want to go all out try a homemade chili sauce. I have an old family recipe posted here on Bukisa which is great to use in cooking meatloaf.

My Fabulous Recipe for Meatloaf

Preheat oven to 375

1½ to 2 pounds ground beef

2 eggs, beaten

1 cup chopped onion

½ cup bread crumbs

½ teaspoon cinnamon

½ teaspoon ground ginger

salt and pepper

½ teaspoon Greek seasoning

salt and pepper

1 bottle chili sauce divided in ½ or 2 cups homemade chili sauce

Mix all of the ingredients together, reserving half of the chili sauce for the top. Mixture will be very moist. This is the secret to cooking meatloaf that is moist and not dry. Turn into loaf pan and form into a loaf. Top with remaining chili sauce. Bake at 375 for 1 hour.

Cooking meatloaf that is moist and delicious isn’t difficult. Don’t add too many bread crumbs and be sure to add something for moisture like the chili sauce. Understand these principles and you will be developing your own meatloaf recipe and cooking meatloaf everyone will love.
