Introduction

Only if you're from the South might you recognize this term, "parched peanuts". Most would say either baked or roasted. This is a southern delight that I grew up eating as a kid.  When my grandparents harvested them from their garden I didn't realize what a simple treasure they were. (I thought everyone ate them and knew to cook them this way but only as an adult did I learn that most people only know about roasted or boiled peanuts.)  Parched is a bit different though and less labor intensive.  For peanut lovers I believe you'll really be surprised and really enjoy them.

They are good for you and all natural, NO preservatives and you DO NOT have to add salt for them to have flavor. They can stand on their own.

Here are the Step - by - Step Instructions

Step One

Actually, this is too simple to mess up.
First, Preheat conventional or toaster oven to 350 degrees F.

Step Two

Next place raw peanuts (unsalted in the shell) in a shallow pan or on a cookie sheet.

Step Three

Cook the peanuts uncovered for 20 minutes, then allow them to cool and serve. (If you cook only a few in the pan rather than filling it, decrease the amount of cook time.)

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't over cook (Be careful with the toaster oven, they may not need to cook quite as long depending on the type of toster oven)
  • Don't over-eat or eat late at night (like most nuts peanuts could cause gaseous combustion issues)
