Hats off to a grass roots LGBT youth organization

Voices of our city establishes hope and possiblity for the LGBT in NYC.

Our youth of today are charged with the great responsibility of trying to make our world a better place.  How do they try to conquer the world when the world tries to conquer them every day?  It's bad enough that our people discriminate against each other based upon their gender, their race, their religious beliefs & their sexual orientation.  We give our youth such a tough task for the future at a point in their lives where they are still trying to figure out who they are as a person, who they want to become & what path do they want to travel down that will help them live the best lives possible. Certain groups of people may feel they don't have a voice or a way to express to others who they are & what they are all about.  Voices of our city gives the LGBT youth exactly that. An outlet to tell others, "Hey, look at me! I am here! I am important & so is what I  have to say!"  What a great organization for the LGBT youth of New York to have especially when so many feel they can't turn to friends or family.  They feel lost amongst a world that doesn't care to understand them and this organization is an safe environment to provide with stablitity, structure, and expression.  Thank you Voices of Our city for being there for the youth in your community.  What a wonderful, uplifting & positive experience this will be for all who come into contact with it.  You don't have to be LGBT to be a part of that community.  I believe that you are a part of it when you stand up & say "I support you". As a wife & mother, I am proud to say I feel I am a member of this community because I stand behind it & support it 100% of the way. I support it because if one day my child tells me that she is gay, I will openly and lovingly accept her and I would love for her to find peace and unity in an organization like this.
