Freedom is Slavery

Feb 17th, 2010 by Dawn Lioutas

This is an article on how freedom is often anything but liberty.

In many senses freedom is never really freedom, it is but the exact opposite, slavery. One can never truly be free or have complete freedom. If one is not a slave for someone else, it is then that they become slaves to themselves, always trying to satisfy there needs, no matter what it takes, or involves. More commonly than not, people become slaves to themselves, rather then to other people, generally without even being aware of it. In a mixed economy, where freedom of speech and choice is promoted, and in a free enterprise economy, which is the economic system with the most freedom, people have many choices. Choices such as what products or services they want to buy and what brands they decide to become loyal to. It is also not uncommon for people to become slaves to products. In these so-called “freedom” oriented economies people are being subconsciously influenced to become slaves to various products. Many people are so loyal to particular labels when it comes to certain products that they would rather not buy the product then buy a different brand of the same product, whether it be food or clothing. When people become this loyal to products it comes to the point where they are slaves to the product brand. People make themselves slaves and the only difference with freedom is the higher ability for people to make themselves slaves as opposed to being made slaves by others, and that they are most often unaware of their enslavement.
