How to propose perfectly

You've met the partner of your dreams, had a serious think and now is the time to take things a step further.  You want to propose, the question is how to make it a 'perfect proposal.'
Here's some points to keep in mind when proposing marriage

1. Do you need to ask permission?
It may sound dated, but it really isn't.  It's polite to think about your future in-laws and if you need to mention that you are planning to propose.  You don't have to ask in a serious manner, sometimes, it's enough just to have a conversation about proposing.  But doing it before you make your proposal will show that you are considerate, thoughtful and someone that they would like to have in their family.

2. Buy the engagement ring
It may sound obvious, but if you want to propose, you need an engagement ring.  There's nothing worse than someone saying 'Yes' in delight, only to have no engagement ring to seal the deal.  Take your time and pick out an engagement ring that your partner will love.  Do some research, pick a style and make sure the ring is in a box, ready for when you ask the question

3. Public or private?
What type of proposal would your spouse like?  Not everyone wants a public proposal with crowds waiting to hear the answer.  Some people prefer it to be a private matter and only you know what type of proposal your partner would like best.  Once you've decide this, you can then begin to think about your location.

4. Timing
You don't want to pop the question at the start of the evening, it's better to wait and get the perfect moment.  You need to both be relaxed and when you feel that the time is right, then you can make your proposal.  Just remember to make sure that you won't be interrupted or distracted and you should have the perfect moment.
