How Do You Know If You Can Trust the Person You Are Dating?

When you first meet someone and then while dating, you may hear words that sound right, but the person's actions don't seem quite right. As they say, "actions speak louder than words". This often proves to be true. How do you know if you can trust the person you are dating?

If something feels off, it usually is. You may hear words that make your heart flutter with joy, but unless actions back up those words, they don't hold much meaning. A person who is trustworthy is consistent in their words and actions. If they are truly interested in you, they will do everything to instill trust.

If someone cares, they show it. If someone is trustworthy, they show it in their words as well as their actions. If you often feel the need to turn to friends because the person you are dating isn't supportive or encouraging, this is a red flag. While they are saying they care about you, you are having to go elsewhere when you need support.

How would they act if you get seriously involved? Would you constantly have to seek support elsewhere? Would you eventually feel drained because of not seeing action behind of their words? Would you tire of hearing endless promises that always fall through?

Maybe you find yourself always waiting by the phone for the call that never comes when it's supposed to. Or maybe your date is always talking about things you two will do together, but it never happens.

You may hear the words that they care. They may say everything you've ever wanted to hear, but...how well do they follow through with those words?

Some people use words very loosely. It can become a habit without much meaning behind of the words. Hearing the words you want to hear, but not seeing them backed up with action, can leave you feeling quite empty in the long run.

Watch for the warning signs and save yourself some heartache by not getting involved with someone who doesn't back up their words with action. The real story is told in someone's consistent actions and behavior. If the actions are in alignment with their words, you just may have a winner!
