You might want to take matter in your hands when traveling and you are aware of the property's practice or policy!

When you stay at a "green/sustainable" property you're supporting those and their efforts to be environmentally friendly, and you help to reduce the negative effects of travel on the environment. Look for badges on properties web pages or their reviews to learn about those properties.

GET INFORMED: read postings in the rooms, some hotel developed their "GREEN DREAM" - policies or they have posters in the lobby or in the rooms

"Saving together" - ASK property owners how can you support their effort on being sustainable; start with little things - recycle bottles, cans, leave magazines you don't need behind. Shot off A/C when leave the room more a longer period of time. Leave ONLY one light on for evening hours while away for dinner.

CREATE accountability for the property owners and what they're doing to be environmentally responsible. Properties that are not responsive to environmental concerns ultimately will be forced to make positive changes or lose business.

WRITE a review! When you do a "Green" Property Review you're not only providing valuable information to other people like yourself, who care about the environment. Share your experience with others that are fund of the same ideas.

Commited to clean and healthy lifestyle! MAKE decisions based on your beliefs and desire to participate with sustainable properties. Once you know how you want to travel, you'll find great sources on the internet of all those places that are more eco-friendly.

I love traveling - I read in your bio that you lived in Innsbruck. Very cool! I lived in Germany near Munich for a time and I find that Europeans, especially Germans and Austrians (and possibly other countries) are light years ahead of the US in terms of green living.
