How To Lower Stress in Your Everyday Life

Our daily activities, work, children, marriage, family, bad news can often bring stress, but learning to reduce it can keep us from anxiety and in good health. Here are some ways to reduce stress.

EAT HEALTHY-  Maintain a healthy well-balanced diet and lifestyle.  Learn to cut down on caffeine, sweets, desserts and sugar consumption,

CUTTING DOWN-  Consider cutting down on activities/commitments you are already part of to reduce stress in your life. Whether it is taking your kids sports team, going to meetings, long hours at work, certain community events, church events, any club you are involved, learn to do less and reduce stress.

A CLEAN HOME-  Clean and de-clutter your home. Clutter and messes can contribute to stress in a major way.  Reduce stress at home by organizing your items, getting the clutter out and getting rid of the junk to have a pleasant environment.  If do not have the time to clean the home, hire something to help out.

DINNER AS A FAMILY-  Sit down and have meals together with your family.   Let this be an important rule in the home.  Do not let schedule anytime during this time. 

TURN TV, CELL PHONE AND COMPUTER OFF

SMALL BREAKS-  Take small breaks during work- take a quick walk, or allow yourself 10 minutes

EXERCISE- Exercise regularly to maintain your health and release stress,

SAY "NO".  Learn to say no and do not be afraid to say no to things. When you take on more than you can handle, this can lead to stressful situations and not very wise. 

Concentrate on one task at a time. Do not be overly stressed if you you have not accomplished things in the time frame you set out to do.  Learn to slow down.

ASK FOR HELP- Ask for help if the task is too overwhelming

ORGANIZED- Prioritize your work. Determine what needs to be done first and what should be done later on.  If you have a deadline, do not waste time stressing out, work on getting the job done. 

MUSIC- Play soothing music, instrumental music, classical music, inspirational music  or just the sounds of nature in your home or car.  It will create an environment where you can relax.

PLAY GAMES- Participation in a sport or a game will get your mind engaged in something that will help you mentally and physically remove daily stress.

SLEEP- Get a good nights rest

A WARM BATH- Take a nice warm bath. Light candles to create a tranquil environment.

TALK TO A FRIEND - Make time to have coffee or lunch with a friend. Share your concerns and problems.  Your problems may not be always resolved, but knowing someone is listening and there for you, will certainly reduce your stress.

TAKE A SHORT VACATION OR GO AWAY FOR A WEEKEND 

Do not let stress rule your life.  You can reduce stress.
