It's not a tailgate party until you have a playlist of tailgate music ready to get people ready for the game.

It's not a tailgate party until you have a playlist of tailgate music ready to get people ready for the game. Tailgating music is one of those things that is easy to over think, so just go with your gut on what you think you and your friends might want to jam out to before the real action starts. That having been said, here are 10 top tailgating songs that are sure to get things started.

1. Bang the Drum All Day - Todd Rundgren

Start of your tailgating party off right by grabbing your grilling tools and loosening your collar. Maybe you can undo of couple buttons, too. Now, give me your sultry, pouty look. That's it, sugar, just like that.

2. We Are the Champions - Queen

Because it's time to share your mind-blowing vocal range with an audience that is larger than your soap-on-a-rope.

3. Search and Destroy - Iggy Pop and the Stooges

A little old school punk is required listening for a real tailgating party. This is not up for discussion, so you can stop your belly aching about it right now. One more word out of you, and I'm breaking out the Neil Diamond.

4. Sweet Caroline - Neil Diamond

See? I tried to warn, and you didn't listen. Sweet Caroline is really more of a stadium song, but it is a great number to get your clan in tune with the larger herd.

5. He's Going the Distance - Cake

Let's face it, most tailgate music is pretty dated and cheesy, so it is critical that you work in a few tracks that at least had a little street cred once upon a time. Now, for 200 points, how can we lose what little self-respect we just saved?

6. Sweet Home Alabama - Lynyrd Skynyrd

That is correct! I also would have accepted "Pour Some Sugar on Me" or anything by REO Speedwagon.

7. Walking on Sunshine - Katrina and the Waves

One million lame wedding DJ's and office parties can't be wrong.

8. Let's Get it Started - Black Eyed Peas

Hey, some of my best friends are hip hop songs!

9. Kernkraft 400 - Zombie Nation

FACT: There are kids around today that were conceived to this song, and they are going to turn out awesome.

10. Don't Stop Believing - Journey

That's right. I went there.
