Computers in Education

How can computer aid you in education? In so many forms. Take for example the way you write documents now. Yesterday you would grab a piece of paper and a pen and practice caligraphy and then you would carefully write the document.

Now you only open Microsoft Word or Open Office or Google Docs and you are running.

Why is that better? First of all you have the computer to teach you how to write carefully without a single mistake. My teacher slapped me and my friends in school with 8 years old when we did a single mistake. One slap per mistake. Now the computer cannot slap us, he just gives us the right answer.

Microsoft Word 2007 even can tell you when a sentence is not correct by analyzing the content of it. How exactly do they do it is a secret as you can imagine.

Now let's see how they can help you in math. Have you ever had a very complicated problem to solve? The computer can run any math software and depending on the speed of your processor it can take milliseconds or just some seconds to solve any complicated math problem.

Isn't that amazing?

The third thing the computer completely changed about education was the way kids and teens do research. Some years ago they would go to the library and pick a couple of books and hope to find what they were looking for. Now they just go to Google and they find millions or billions of results to the keyword or phrase they are looking for. That's the difference. Today it's faster, more secure, more accurate... better!

Now take the example or portability. Some time ago you had to go to the library and be physically there to access information. Now you can carry a laptop with you everywhere and enjoy wireless internet everywhere too. Isn't this the most amazing thing ever invented? Internet everywhere, who could think of this just five years ago?

One last thing, now you can store in your computer all the documents you want, all the information you want, all the books you want, all the pictures you want, all the musics you want, all the papers you want, all the formulas you want, you can even store all the videos you want in a bigger disk and you can even carry it all in a pocket. About fifty years ago someone who read this would think the printer went insane. Now it's common and vulgar.

And thanks to the way things get better, one year from now you can store the double in the same drive and two years from now you will be able to store 4x even more!
