Create XML Site Map to submit to Google

XML sitemap in your web makes it more easy for search engine spiders and robots to find new or updated content. Rather than crawling every page in your web, all they have to do is crawl the XML file and then go look at the changes or additions.

1) Go to XML-Sitemaps.com

2) “Starting URL “, key in your website URL. For “Change frequency “, “Last modification ” & “Priorty “, you can either use the default setting or change it base on your requirement. Finish the setting, just click on “Start ” button.

3) Finish generate, download the un-compressed XML Sitemap to your computer, and use FTP application upload it to your website server, into “public_html ” forder. The location should be http://www.yoursite.com/sitemap.xml .

4) After that, go to Google Webmaster Tools , sign in with your Google Account. On the Dashboard, type the site URL in the Add site field (http://www.yoursite.com/ ). Click Add Site.

5) You will see your website http://www.yoursite.com/ appears in the site column. To add your sitemap, click on Add a Sitemap, beside the site listing.

6) Choose General Web Sitemap. Type the URL to your Sitemap location in the provided field. Make sure you include the entire URL, such as http://www.example.com/sitemap.xml . Click Add Web Sitemap.

7) Click “Verify”, beside the site listing. You get 2 options to choose, “Add a meta tag ” or “Upload an HTML file “. Choose either one.

i) Choose “Add a meta tag “, copy the meta tag give by Google & paste it to your home page file, after the section.

ii) Choose “Upload an HTML file “, you will get the HTML verification file name from google (eg. google11e5844324b1234e.html ) . Use any text editor, create a file & name it as “google11e5844324b1234e.html “. Using FTP application to upload the file to your webserver, the location should be http://www.yoursite.com/google11e5844324b1234e.html

Click Verify button. Done.

Google ensures the URL is reachable and displays the Dashboard. From here, you can see the number of Sitemaps you’ve added for each site and if any of them have errors.
