Control GARBAGE DISPOSAL ODORS

First I fill the disposal side of the kitchen sink with warm water & a cup of bleach. When it is full I turn on the disposal & pull the plug & let the sink drain with the disposal running. You can do the same with baking soda , but it doesn't kill the germs that are causing the odors. Baking soda just nutralize the smell for a short time. LEMONS after the bleach water treatment , & rinse the disposal out with a sink full or 2 of just water , Same as with the bleach , . Fill the sink , turn on the disposal & pull the plug. With the disposal rinsed good , cut a lemon into 4 to 6 wedges , turn on the cold water , turn on the disposal & drop in the lemon wedges one at a time , give it a few seconds to clear one wedge before you put in another one PINE-SOL is a something that lots of people have in their house. it will knock down the smell & give it a fresh pine smell. Again , full sink of water & a cup of pine-sol , Turn on the disposal & pull the plug. Let it drain with the disposal turned on. ICE With what ever cleaner you use. Toss in 6 to 10 ice cubes just as the sink is almost empty. The ice chips with scour the slim off the inside of the disposal & really clean it. The main problem with garbage disposal smell is folks toss in a bunch of kitchen waste & don't run enough water down with it. You need to let the water run for 15 to 20 seconds after it sounds like everything has been ground up & flushed out of the disposal. Letting the extra water run with the disposal on will rinse it thoroughly & keep the smell from coming back
