Olive Oil, Lemons, Aspirin, Baking Soda and Vinegar are all natural ingredients. They are store cupboard rescue treatments that can save money and time.

Store cupboard rescue treatments are useful to know, using what we have in our kitchen can save money and time, money because we have the products already and time because we don't have to leave the house to buy other products. Most ingredients we have are natural and therefore better for us.

Olive Oil is a wonderful product to use, it may not smell as glamorous as manufactured products but it does perform when called into action, lemon juice and coffee grounds are also useful.
Beauty treatments and rescue remedies are always being searched for, money is spent everyday by people looking to improve or repair damage caused by over treating and every day stress on, hair, nails and skin.
Hair straighteners and hair dryers will dry out your hair and cause brittle strands, continuous styling in this way will destroy the hair shaft and leave you with no style at all. There are many chemical products available in stores and the majority of them are good value for money, but some just don't get the job done.

Olive oil is good for removing make up, it is gentle enough to use around the eyes, massage into the skin well and use a damp cosmetic pad to remove the grime, waterproof cosmetics can be removed this way.
A good way of getting the most from an Olive oil home treatment for damaged hair, is to wash your hair and leave to dry naturally. Then work a cupful of Olive oil into the scalp and down the length of the hair, ensuring the oil reaches the tips. A shower cap, cling film or a plastic bag is then needed to cover the head and afterwards, cover in a towel. Leave the oil on for at least two hours, even better would be to leave it on overnight and then wash it off in the morning, if you do this make sure you protect the bed linen. This treatment will help keep your hair in a better condition if done at least one a month.

Used coffee grounds are a great exfoliator and they also leave an oily residue after being washed off, this is a good moisturiser. Lay a towel on the floor and rub the grounds over your body, then using a soft face cloth or cotton wool, brush off the excess, take a water only shower (don't use a soap product), and don't be tempted to shower with all the grounds on your body as you will block the drains. Salt and sugar can also be used to exfoliate the skin, they can be showered straight off as they will dissolve but you will need to apply a moisturiser of some description afterwards.

Cut a lemon in half and squeeze the juice into a small dish, then soak your nails in it for ten minutes each hand, this helps remove grubby stains and whiten the nails. Use the coffee grounds and rinse off, this will leave your hands feeling soft and rehydrated. Use the two halves of the lemon for each foot, rub your feet with the lemons and then rub salt over, rinse and dry, rub Olive oil over each foot and pop a plastic bag or cling film over each one, leave for fifteen minutes, again rinse and dry well.

If you have bought a second hand piece of  wooden furniture and it is in need of a clean up, rub with lemon juice, wipe of the grime and then rub Olive oil into the wood, rub in gently then wipe residue off with a soft cloth, the wood will look fresher.

Baking soda, vinegar and aspirin all have a place in our homes, they also have other uses other than in cooking and curing.

If you do clog your drains with the coffee grains, get out your baking soda, salt and vinegar. Remove as much water as you can, then pour one cup of baking soda, followed by one cup of salt, then a cup of vinegar, the vinegar must be last as it reacts with the drier ingredients, leave for at least ten minutes and then flush with a kettle of boiling water, repeat as required.
Under arm stains on clothing can be removed or reduced by crushing two or three aspirin, depending on the severity of the stain, mix with a small amount of water making a liquid paste, don't make it too stiff or runny, soak the stain for about three hours and then wash as normal, this is good for white cottons.

Please note : Asthmatics and those with allergies should avoid all contact with aspirin.
