A review of the great song by the band Alabama

Alabama's song "Down Home" is reminescent of another time. Before fast-paced offices and e-mail, before technology began bombarding the life of the every day person. As the song says "Things move at a slower pace, nobody's in the rat race and these days that's a special way of life." I was born in Mississippi, grew up in West Texas, and know exactly the kind of life "Down Home" refers to.

When we are growing up,we can't wait to do exactly that. It's not until we are adults that we realize just how special our childhood's were. I am 22 years old and just in my relatively short span on this earth I have seen it change from friends hanging out at bowling alleys and having camping trips to Ipods and Myspace.

I now live in California, and one thing California is known for is Silicon Valley, the tech capital of the country. It is when I see all the yuppies obsessed with the next big techno-gadget that I really start missing West Texas. Things really do move at a slower pace down home, and it really is a special way of life.

When I was growing up I was enamoured of the bright lights and beauty of Hollywood, typical of many kids with dreams. I quickly came to realize the glitz and glamour is mostly a facade. Needless to say I can't help but finally recognize that Texas is actually a great place, despite the heat.

Down Home speaks of the kind of a life where your friends are more like family and nobody hesitates to help out a neighbor.Instead of going into a long description I'll go ahead and share the song.
