"Can we go from here to anywhere?" A Poem

Not only are the present moments at stake in this piece, but the future too.

Valentine's Day I drove within 11 miles of your home.

I wanted so much to be with you and for us to be alone.

My heart still longs for you to be so very near

At times I think it should be to you, just as clear.

How can you not care when someone cares so much?

To treat another so blandly when special would be just.

What I want from you probably could now never be

It was in my mind that I desired it so very desperately.

You admitted knowing how very much I cared about you

That was no secret, but your feelings about me I had no clue.

Up and down similar to a roller coaster ride you did

Saying very little however keeping so very much hid.

It is not all what we say that matters all the time

Actions count as important for the mountains that we climb.

For love to be felt without the words being said

Would require that message be strong to get to the head.

At times I thought I knew you were with me only

Then came times I sure did feel so alone and lonely.

The days you said it was not good for you to have me there

Gave me concern to wonder and in me, placed a scare.

The fact that you let me do the driving for us to be as one

Was selfish after you realized the reason that was done.

It was for your dog's sake so she would not have to be left

You did not offer taking turns so I was again bereft.

To pick apart the wrongs will not ever make themĀ  right

Time to put this aside, close the chapter and call it a night.

Oh my beautiful valentine, how difficult to let free that which is no longer ours. Clay
