Making your own handmade soy candles can be fun and relatively easy to do. A custom candle can be a great personal gift and can burn for up to 125 hours when made properly. This is a great activity for the family with the right age group

Step1
Melt the soy candle wax in a double boiler heating to between 150 and 180 degrees stirring often.
Step2
Add your coloring and scented oil fragrance to the soy candle wax mixture and then cool the wax to 130 degrees
Step3
Heat a glass container or jar to just above room temperature.
Step4
Apply glue to adhere your wick to the bottom center of glass jar container. Use a pencil or paper clip to help it remain in place and then pour your soy candle wax into the warmed container.
Step5
Let the soy candle cool and then snip part of your wick with scissors leaving about 1/2 inch above your candle.
Step6
Allow 4 hours to set then light your candle and enjoy!

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure to warm jar or container before pouring in hot wax for better adherence. Just above room temperature is ideal.
  • Use a hot gun to smooth any bubbles formed on top of your custom candles.
  • Make sure to allow your candle at least 4 days to set before lighting to achieve ideal burning life. (handmade soy candles will generally burn for 120 or more hours)

This also can be a great gift item for any occasion
