Learn how to play holdem poker and you will be playing the hottest poker game around. It's simple and easy to master the basics of Texas holdem.

Just about anyone can play holdem poker. The basics of the game are easy to learn, much easier than some of the other poker games. Texas holdem has seen a huge surge in popularity not that holdem poker tournaments are on television. The No Limit Texas Holdem poker tournaments you see allow the players to go all in at any time. It's exciting but you need to learn the basics first. Start with Limit Texas Holdem. Play holdem that way until you learn the ropes.

You begin to play holdem poker by dealing each player 2 cards, face down.

After the cards are dealt the first round of betting begins. To play holdem poker everyone either bets or folds.

Now it is time for what is known as the flop. Three cards are placed face up in the middle of the table. To play holdem poker each player then uses these cards in combination with the two they are holding to make a hand. Bets are then placed all around.

The next step to play holdem poker is the turn, or fourth card. This card is again face up and open for everyone to use. Players then bet again.

The final, fifth card is called the river. When you play holdem the last round of betting follows the river card.

The last step to play holdem poker is called the showdown. This is where the remaining players show their cards, making the best hand possible with their cards and the 5 showing. The player with the best hand wins the pot.
