If you are like most single mothers these days. Taking care of your children and balancing a check book can be chalanging. Also each day having to drop them off with the sitter knowing that you would much rather be rolling on the floor with them. Well wish no more, I will tell you how you can do both.

Things You'll Need:
  • Toys
  • Computer (not a necessity but definately makes things easier)
  • Phone
  • A room that can be devoted to the daycare
  • Drive to succeed
  1. Step 1

Contact your local child services department. Ask them how you can get information on starting an in home day care. They will direct you to the appropriate people. Typically they will send you information in the mail and you may have to go to an orientation.

  2. Step 2

Once you recieve this information read it carefully. This isn't like the pamplet you got when you started your job that you threw in a drawer somewhere and forgot about it. Take it seriously this is a business. Read it twice if you have to.

  3. Step 3

Take notes, get you a new binder that you can keep everything in. You will need this pamplet for a lot of things. Make you a list of things that you need to do, and a list of things you need to buy, like a fire extinguisher, first aid kit, cots, things like that.

  4. Step 4

After you have done everthing that they say to do it is time to start planning how you will run your business. Will you accept government payment? How much will you charge? What do you expect the parents to do?
Type up a handbook to give to new parents explaining how you run your business. It doesn't have to be long but you need to cover your basis. Like birthday parties, late fees, parking, picking up children, schedules.

  5. Step 5

Contact the local office that does subsidy payments. Your child services office will know who they are. They can offer help with the business aspects of the license.

  6. Step 6

Advertise! You have your license show it off proudly, advertise everywhere. Print up some fliers, get some business cards, give them to everyone. Tell your friends and family. Get the word out. The more people that you tell the more people will know about you.
