ADHD (attention deficit hyper-active disorder) is one of the most common mental ailments of society today, prevalent amongst both adolescence and adults alike. Step 1
Modify your diet.
No dairy products! I know it might seem like I just said "no more happiness", but if you want to cure ADHD naturally, you have got to do this! Cow's milk is especially something you want to watch out for. Cow's milk is by far the most important restriction. Instead drink more water! Considering the fact that the brain is 80% water, you can see how this is important in order to cure ADHD. You should be drinking anywhere between a half gallon to a full gallon of water a day.
Other foods that you will need to cut out of your diet are yellow foods (corn and squash), fruit juices, chocolate, processed sugar, junk foods, and processed meat. Avoid consuming food colorings as well as they have been known to exacerbate ADHD symptoms quite a bit.
Step 2
Meditate daily! I know it sounds silly, but PsychCentral conducted experiments on the affects of meditation on students with ADHD back in January of 2009. Their results were shocking! They found that EVERY single student who implemented an hour of meditation a day improved performance in school drastically.
Meditation has tons of other beneficial side affects as a plus as well. You definitely need to practice at least 15 to 30 minutes of meditation a day if you want to naturally cure ADHD.
A good meditation technique to practice is to sit upright with your legs crossed in the traditional meditation pose and close your eyes. Breathe in to the count of four, hold your breath for 2 seconds and exhale to the count of six. As you exhale, imagine you are on an elevator that is slowly declining one story. As you breathe in, feel the elevator come to a stop. Repeat.
See how long you can go without shifting your focus to any other thoughts. It will be tricky at first, but over time you will develop the ability to calm the mind and focus at will, for extended periods of time.
Step 3
Sleep! Sleep is a critical component to minimizing the symptoms of ADHD. Studies show that the average person (including victims of ADHD) perform overall much better at focus-oriented tasks such as work and school after a full 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. You can not put a price tag on the benefits of this.
Be sure to go to bed at the same time every night, to condition your body to fall asleep much easier.
With ADHD, people usually suffer from insomnia as well. To counteract this, stop doing homework, reading or watching TV and movies in bed. After a while, your mind will associate your bed with nothing but sleep and you will begin to fall asleep much faster at night.
