The Technological Revolution of the last twenty years is the development in information and telecommunications technology, in addition to new computers and software, which has created new jobs.

Firstly, jobs are available in schools to teach I.C.T (Information Communications Technology) to younger children. The Technological Revolution has created this type of job because of the invention of sophisticated computers which can be bought now for as cheap as £200 and are available to buy in many shops, thus the technology is easily accessible. If you relate back 20 years ago, there would be no such technology, only typewriters which would cost at least £400.

Also, another major type of job has been created. This is working in call centres and answering people’s calls, which would mainly be circulated around finance and insurance. For example, companies such as Direct Line, Kwik-Fit and First Direct are based in large call centres located in Scotland. The Technological Revolution has made such jobs because nearly everyone has at least one phone in their house, thus with this kind of technology created by the revolution, people are enabled to phone call centres instead of leaving the house and going to the bank.

Furthermore, The Technological Revolution has created the World Wide Web, which has allowed banks to also circulate their business in the internet and employs people in maintaining this. Because of this revolution, almost everyone is connected to the Internet, allowing people to access their bank details from home.

In conclusion, The Technological Revolution has created many jobs and is probably behind the creation of Microsoft, a software designing company. There are also many other minor jobs, such as software engineering, console making and television producing.
