Design your own Tshirt and start a home-based business. A low investment idea that has a lot of potential. This DIY project shows you how to design your own Tshirt.

Have you ever tried to design your own Tshirt? Do you want to start an easy home-based business without investing too much? Designing your own Tshirt is a great DIY (do-it-yourself)project. To design your own Tshirt you don't need too much. The investment is not high, yet the profits that it brings in can be very good. Design your own Tshirt and then, extend this to printing patterns on baseball caps too.

To design your own Tshirt you need just a few things-

Once you have everything, you can start designing your own Tshirt. Here we go..
1. Firstly, to design your own Tshirt, you need to create a pattern of your choice. You can use any photo-editing software like Adobe Photoshop, Corel Paint Shop, Photo Studio etc. that is installed on your PC. You can either open any image that you already have on your PC, or create a new pattern. Adjust the image in the photo-editor, so that it is less than 8.5 inches X 11 inches.( dimensions of a regular sized transfer paper). So now the pattern to design your own Tshirt is ready.

2. Next, let's get that T-shirt ready. While designing your own Tshirt, make use of a washed Tshirt which is ironed. The Tshirt must not have any crease.

3. Let's work on that transfer paper. Load the transfer paper into the printer (inkjet), such that the image gets printed on the coated side. The printer must be set to the following: Transfer Paper Mode; mirror image Or Normal paper; best quality.

4. The next step in designing your own Tshirt is to print the pattern on the transfer paper. Once this is done, cut the design with care.

5. You are heading towards the final steps in designing your own Tshirt. Yippee!... (LOL).Ok now getting back to the project. Heat a regular iron for about 8-9 minutes at its max. setting.

6. Spread the cotton T-shirt on a flat surface, and place a cardboard piece inside the Tshirt (where you want the pattern). Place the transfer-paper image cut-out on the T-shirt, such that the image is facing the Tshirt.

7. Move the pre-heated iron on the backside of the transfer paper. Move the iron in a constant circular motion and cover all areas of the Tshit.

8. Before you design your own Tshirt, do remember to read the instructions on the transfer paper pack. Iron only for the amount of time that is specified on the package. Once the time is up, you need to peel the transfer paper.

9. Peel a small section of the paper from the corner and check if the pattern transfer is fine. Once you are satisfied. Peel off the paper at a sharp angle, in one swift motion.

A few tricks for when you design your own Tshirt.
For a Glossy finish, let the paper cool completely and then peel.
For a Matt finish, peel the paper while it is still hot.
Once you are done designing your own Tshirt, check if you think that the design is bright enough. If not, you can always reprint on the same design. You don't want to mess up your T-shirt. So be careful while reprinting on the image.

You can design your own Tshirt this way and if you like the results, why not start a business? Like I said, once you know how to design your own Tshirt, you can design baseball caps too! Go for it.
