Trail mix makes a great snack anytime of the day, but add some cereal and you'll find adults and children reaching for a healthy breakfast alternative more often. This DIY recipe can be made ahead in bulk, making it a simple, quick recipe your family can enjoy on a daily basis without having to cook a thing.

This is the simplest breakfast recipe you will ever make. You can prepare this in bulk and store it in sealed containers or put into individual zip lock bags for lunch box snacks or breakfast on the go. It's easy to eat in the car or the bus and best of all—it tastes great and is a healthy alternative to a greasy, fried breakfast.

Homemade Cereal Trail Mix Ingredients:

  • Cereals (A mix of several varieties is best.)
  • Raisins and/or Prunes
  • Nuts (Any variety of nuts you enjoy can be used)
  • Dried Fruits and/or Berries
  • Chocolate/White Chocolate Chips
  • Chocolate Candies
  1. Purchase several varieties of your favorite cereals. You can make these using super healthy types of cereals with granola and bran or you can use more sugary enhanced cereals that kids love. Vitamin D, sometimes referred to as the Sunshine Vitamin, is an important vitamin to keep in your diet. Fortified Vitamin D cereals should be added to the Homemade Cereal Trail Mix to increase this essential daily vitamin in your diet because it helps boost your natural immune system.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together as much or as little of each ingredient as you please. Hand stir until well blended.
