Beef stew is great on a cold winter night or just about anytime. This is a wonderful beef stew recipe to prepare for your family or for company.

Beef stew is great on a cold winter night or just about anytime. This is a wonderful beef stew recipe to prepare for your family or for company. You can use either beef round, beef sirloin or beef chuck. You can also add other vegetables if you like. It takes some time to cut up all the vegetables, but it is an easy beef stew recipe. This beef stew recipe will serve about seven or eight people and you can refrigerate the leftovers for the next day.

Ingredients for beef stew recipe :

3 Pounds Beef Stew Meat, cut into large cubes
1 Tablespoons Olive Oil
4 Cups Water
2 Can Beef Broth
About 7 - 8 Small Red Potatoes, cut into medium cubes
About 5 Carrots, thickly sliced
About 10 Mushrooms, thickly sliced
About 1 Celery Stalk, thickly sliced
1 or 2 Medium Onions, cut into medium pieces
1/4 Teaspoon Rosemary
1/4 Teaspoon Oregano
Salt and Pepper

Directions for beef stew recipe :

Pour the olive oil into a skillet pan. Add the beef and brown well. Pour the water and beef broth into a medium or large pot. Add the browned beef and the drippings from the skillet pan to the pot. Heat over medium heat until boiling. Reduce the heat and cover the pot. Simmer for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Prepare all of the vegetables for the beef stew. Add the potatoes, carrots, mushrooms, turnip, celery, onion and spices. Simmer again for about 45 minutes to one hour until all of the vegetables are cooked. If the beef stew looks too watery, mix up about 1/2 cup water with some flour. Heat this mixture in the microwave for about two minutes. Add to the beef stew. Mix well. Turn down the heat on the stove and keep your beef stew covered until ready to serve.
