Reviewing Red Cat Jazz Cafe in Houston TX

Red Cat Jazz Café is a restaurant/lounge bar located in downtown Houston at 924 Congress Street, near Old Market Square, and it is in a historical red brick building. The Red Cat Jazz Café mixes great lounge/jazz music with a Creole cuisine and a French Quarter atmosphere. Mary Griffin who has toured with Patti Labelle and gave music to a variety of movies such as Coyote Ugly and Studio 54, or Houston's own DJ and singer Dana Jackson or contemporary jazz saxophonist Kyle Turner. Or even Althea René' from Detroit who began her career as a flautist at age four and then started playing with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and Maysa a Baltimore born artist who continuously remains on top of the billboard charts just to name a few.

As you enter the restaurant you will immediately notice the vibrant paintings that surround it; all the paintings are by an artist from Mississippi called Jackson Collins and in his paintings he portrays his idea of the jazz and soul music.

Of course at the Red Cat Jazz Café you can also enjoy great Cajun food starting with their appetizers, you can order Red Catfish Strips for $7.95 or even the red cat sampler for $24.95 and share it with your party. Or go with the famous

Louisiana Boudain balls for $7.95 or the tasteful Chippy's New Orleans style BBQ Shrimp for $9.95 to start out with.

For their soups and salads choice you can get a cup of seafood Gumbo for $6.00, a spinach ensemble for $6.95, a normal Caesar's salad for $7.00 or a cup of red bean and rice for $4.00. You can also get side dishes such as red beans or dirty rice for $2.95, or Garlic Mashed Potatoes, or green bean Alexander for $3.95.

For their entrées you can taste their fried catfish filets or the crawfish etouffee, or the fried jumbo shrimp for $12.00. Of course you can also try their French Market Pork Chop for $12.95 or the fried seafood platter for $18.95; the catfish ponchatrain for $13.95 or the bourbon St. Broil for $16.95.
