Recommended tools:
Small and medium pair of channel locks, crescent wrench, basin wrench, Allan wrenches, Phillips head and flat head screwdriver, angle stop wrench, sponge and small bucket.
1) Removal
Turn off water on hot and cold angle stops under kitchen or vanity cabinet. Remove supply lines going into angle stops with a sponge or small bucket under angle stop. Remove any hoses on valve body that will prevent the removal of faucet. On topside of countertop remove all trim. You made need Allen wrenches to remove handles. With basin wrench loosen nut below on valve body to remove. If faucet is an 8” spread style then you will need to remove tee that supplies hot and cold water to spout. Next remove drain from sink. Keep bucket underneath to catch all debris that has been collected.
Once faucet and drain has been removed prep area for new installation. Clean holes where old faucet had sat. You want your installation to look its best so this is important. At sink remove all putty grime that may be sitting in sinkhole.
2) Installation
If this is a new installation then check to see if holes were cut right and how close the sink is to the holes of the countertop. This may be an obstacle but easily solved. One of two solutions can happen. First if porcelain sink is sitting right next to hole of countertop then you may be able to slightly insert lock nut washer into the gap first where the sink meets the countertop. If there is no gap then cut you a piece of 1 ½ or 1 1/4 of pvc pipe to act as a spacer from your lock nut and washer hitting the sink that is in the way. When installing new faucet never put plumbers putty on any part of faucet. This will cause the counter top to discolor. This only occurs when the countertop is a porous stone such as granite or marble. Most faucets will have different installations and the best way to install if not familiar is to go by the instructions.
