This recipe for garlic bread is quick and easy, and you will soon be getting your kids to make it. It can go with the Thanksgiving or ata casual barbecue. Try using the garlic butter on other foods, like baked potatoes or sandwiches.

Garlic bread is very quick and simple to make. It can be made milky or parve, and with butter, margarine or olive oil. It would make a nice addition to the thanksgiving dinner table as well. You can of course change the types of bread you use, and try brown bread, whole wheat or nutty bread. Here is my standard version of this barbecue and dinner favorite.

Ingredients:

1 baguette

Enough butter, margarine or olive oil to spread inside the baguette.

About 5 cloves of garlic

Small bunch of fresh Parsley or coriander

Salt and pepper to taste

Method:

Crush the garlic.

Dice up the coriander or parsley finely.

Put the butter in a bowl and mix in the garlic and coriander well.

Season with a little salt and pepper.

Cut the baguette into slices about half an inch thick, but don't complete the cut, so that the pieces remain attached to each other, and maintain the form of the baguette.

Spread the garlic butter on each side of each piece of the baguette. If you don't fancy the parsley or coriander just leave it out. This garlic butter could be used on baked potatoes or as a spread on sandwiches with cheese.

Wrap the baguette in tin foil and put into the oven at about 180 degrees centigrade for about 20 minutes or until slightly crispy and the butter has melted into the bread.

Open up the foil and serve.

The bread is best served hot from the oven, and try serving it with these cheese spreads/dips.
