Rankings and projections for running backs for week 9 of the 2009 NFL season

Week 9 Running Back Rankings

1.)    Maurice Jones-Drew

Projection: 100 Rush Yards, 1 Rush TD, 5 REC, 40 Rec. Yards, 1 Rec. TD

Plain and simple, Jones-Drew is going to absolutely light up Kansas City no matter what. He will do it in the rushing game and in the receiving game, and unless he gets hurt he is the clear and obvious number one choice for week nine with Peterson on a bye.

2.)    Frank Gore

Projection: 100 Rush Yards, 1 Rush TD, 3 Rec., 30 Rec. Yards

Right now Tennessee is not stopping anybody let alone Frank Gore. Coming back from injury he had a huge game last week with a 64 yard touchdown run. I wouldn’t be surprised if he had a few runs like that this week.

3.)    Michael Turner

Projection: 90 Rush Yards, 2 Rush TD, 1 Rec. 8 Rec. Yards

He hasn’t been putting up huge yards this year, but he has been putting up the touchdowns that everybody saw last year. Against Washington he may even have a chance for two or three touchdowns.

4.)    Chris Johnson

Projection: 100 Rush Yards, 1 Rush TD, 2 Rec., 15 Rec. Yards

He cannot be stopped. Chris Johnson is leading the league in rushing and will continue his dominance. With lightning speed he has had many long touchdown runs this year, so why not expect more?

5.)    Ray Rice

Projection: 70 Rush Yards, 1 Rush TD, 4 Rec., 40 Rec. Yards

The now clear number one on the Ravens Rice has been a threat rushing and receiving. You never know if he will get the big play rushing or receiving.

6.)    DeAngleo Williams

7.)    Ronnie Brown

8.)    Pierre Thomas

9.)    Matt Forte

10.) Joseph Addai

11.) Brandon Jacobs

12.) Ryan Grant

13.) Cedric Benson

14.) Julius Jones

15.) Kevin Smith
