With babies recommended to sleep on their backs now to prevent SIDS, more and more babies are getting flat heads or plagiocephaly. This is when the baby spends too much time on their back between 2 weeks up to 4 months of age and their heads start getting flat on the back side. It's not too cute, and most mothers don't want their cute little baby to have a flat head. Here are some ways to prevent plagiocephaly.

TUMMY TIME: It is recommended that you give your baby a lot of tummy time during the day to prevent baby from getting a flat head  or plagiocephaly. Doctors recommend that your baby get tummy time during the day anyway to help build their neck and back muscles stronger. So get your baby on his or her tummy often.

MOVE THEM: When they are sleeping at night, you could try to position their head to one side or the other. Simply move their head gently while they are sleeping, so that they aren't always sleeping directly on the back of thier head. Though, this may not work too well, as they will simply place their own head in the position they want it.

BABY PILLOWS: There are baby pillows made now just for this reason, to prevent baby from getting a flat head. Search online at Amazon, simply type in baby flat head pillow or plagiocephaly and you will get a search result of pillows for babies that help prevent flat heads. Make sure you read about each one before you make your final decision.
