The Population in Burundi: The Bantu
Burundi is in the central Africa. The River Nile goes through Burundi and flows in Lake Tanganyika. Burundi was a Kingdom until 1966 when it became a Republic. Burundi is in a strategic situation geographically speaking because it divides Africa between the West and the East part of Africa. One of the largest ethnic group in numbers are the bantu.
The first ethnic group to live in Burundi is the hutu ethnic group. The hutu are bantu populations that are also in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Congo, Cameroun, Angola, South Africa, Rwanda, Uganda, Central Africa, Kenya and Tanzania. So they are in French, English, Afrikans and Portuguese speaking countries. The bantu population work mainly in the rural areas as farmers. They plant cash crops like coffee, tea, cotton, vegetables and fruits that are sold on the stock market. The world bantu means people or population in Kirundi a bantu language and also in Kiswahili. The bantu have many children per family and most of the time they stay linked to their country of origin. On of the festivities called Kwanza is from Angola. Kwanza is celebrated in the United States of America in January. Kwanza means first in Swahili. Kwanza is also a word which means emancipation in Bantu language.
The bantu populations because of their work in the farms have been in contact with merchants who resell their produce. There are other populations who came to settle in the bantu territories after marriages. There are mixed families in Central part of Africa. The metis are more in the business category. There should be more confidence in the metis. There are consultations which can intergrate all the opinions. It is important to have a say in where you live. Nowadays, the problem is to produce enough to eat and to sell in other words stock is very important. Agriculture and environment are key words because of health and quality of life.
