Techniques to achieving a deeply relaxed state on your own.

Hypnosis has been used for centuries. It is used today mainly as a tool for deep concentration in order to rid someone of addictions or phobias. It is a high state of concentration in which we focus completely and without distraction on our target of concentration. Since it is nothing more than deep concentration, it is something we can do to and for ourselves without outside assistance. Here are some steps to achieving a hypnotic state on your own.

Find a quiet place, usually a room in your home where you can sit in a couch or chair and be completely comfortable. Sit up, rather than lay or you may fall asleep. Make sure all of your body parts are not crossed or on top of each other. You want to have at least 30 minutes to yourself in this room.

Close your eyes to block out external stimuli. Try not to think. Easier said than done, but try and rid your mind of your stresses or anxieties. Don't force this to happen, just let the thoughts slip in and out without focusing on them and they will melt away.

Start at the bottom of your body with your feet. Think of one part at a time, such as your toes. Imagine the stress and tension leaving each body part. Don't rush, just think relax your body, starting at your feet and moving your way up. Relax them one at a time. It sometimes helps to think of something that relaxes your body as you envision each part, such as a hot bath or warm fire.

Breathe slowly and deeply. Each time you exhale, imagine your stress being exhaled. Observe yourself as completely relaxed. Imagine yourself floating in water. Slowly count backwards from ten. When you reach number one, you should feel like you are floating and feel nothing else at all.

Once you are in this state, you should be able to observe and consider the problem or issue that you are trying to deal with. Generally, you are not trying to come up with answers or solutions in this state; rather you are visualizing a more relaxed way of dealing with your fears, phobias or addictions. Tell yourself, to remain calm and relaxed in all states of consciousness. This will help you deal with your issues.

Once you have talked to yourself for a few minutes in this state of being, begin to lift yourself up out of your floating state. Do this slowly and deliberately. When you feel yourself back up out of your 'float', stay still for a few minutes with your eyes closed in order to remain relaxed. Open your eyes. You will feel refreshed and ready to conquer the world!

Self hypnosis really does get. I used to have panic attacks. I then turned to this method. It takes time, but once a person does it and believes in it, it definitely helps. Thanks for this! 5* :)
