Our Loving Cleo a black dog who was a friend in my place.
Cleo was an old black dog who befriended me she was special to us and was there around the clock
When I first joined a crew to work at a gas company little was I to know that an innocent and loyal black dog was to be an integral of that family. Cleo would take up residence in our outdoor office soaking up the sun the summer and being heated in winter. I think others would not stand for it but since the cen staff found her and brought her in she was just lucky I suppose. As we spent shifts around the clock she would know everything about our movements and moved with us.
When I would arrive for work driving my car through to the car park she would jump up and down the stairs and hurry to meet me in the car park wagging her tail and smiling as I greeted her with some pats we strolled back together. The others said wow what happened soon as she heard your car turned almost inside out to get to you. once when I opened some gates early in the morning some distance from our office there was a fox watching me as unlocked the chain and padlock and the fox just looked so curious to what I was doing and it was just at that moment that Cleo came bounding up the road to give chase to the fox.
I don't know how she knew I suppose she just picked up the scent but the sense of protection was incredible to me. She lived for many years until her body began to emit an odor where she was required to be taken to the vet. I never saw her again sadly but she forever lives with me as do all the dogs I have owned or been associated with and at times they visit in spirit
