Cutting select climbing Jasmine vines so that fast growth is started is easy. Prune or pick long vine ends and trim with sharp razor or knife. Do a fast  prunig with prunig shears and garden gloves to get several vines, then cull worst cuttings.  Pluck the leaves on planting end before you put in plant solution and you are ready to go.

Things you'll need:

  • Good healthy climbing Jasmine vine ends.
  • Pruning shears and sharp, single edge razor blade or Xacto knife.
  • Temporary holding container for cut vine ends.
  • Water
  1. CHOOSE A FEW HEALTHY CLIMBING JASMINE VINE ENDS. Select about a half dozen or so of the healthiest growing vines. Pick form lower part of plant so as not to disturb the growth pattern of upper plants vines. Make sure the vines have good, green, healthy growth.  See also  http://www.ehow.com/how_5395896_control-plant-pests-organically.html
  2. USE PRUNING SHEARS OR SHARP SCISSORS TO MAKE INITIAL CUTTING IF HARD TO REACH. Make quick cuts of each vine end chosen. Temporarily set aside cuttings in container of fresh water, rainwater is best. Prune more cuttings than you plan to replant so you can cull the best shoots. Work fast, do quick visual checks before pruning and setting aside in water container. You will review cuttings before final cuttings. Use single edged razor blade to cut vines. Slice at sharp angle. This exposes the maximum amount of interior of plant so abundant root structure will form. A very sharp Xacto kinfe would work also.  See also  http://www.ehow.com/how_5381135_make-own-organic-fertilizer.html
  3. PICK OUT BEST PRUNING CUTTINGS. Select for green, healthy condition upon closer inspections. Cull less attractive vine cuttings from prunings. Use single edged razor blade for re-cut of vines on flat surface. Sharp angle at end of vine to be started and grown inside, results in healthier root development. Slice at very sharp angle. A very sharp Xacto kinfe will work too. When you have about a half dozen sharp-angled re-cuts, you have what you need to use a starter solution and grow inside until spring.  See  http://www.ehow.com/how_5420159_store-plants-inside-over-winter.html

Tips and Warnings:

  • Prune more vines than you need, cull later.
  • Make sure single edged razor or Xacto knife is sharp!
  • Be careful with single edged razor blade or Xacto knife!
  • Wear heavy -duty garden gloves to protect hands and fingers during pruning and re-cutting.
