Tame your evil lovebird

This is just a quick refrence to some of the bird taming methods i used to make my lovebird as loveable as she is

ok, first things first, why is you bird mean does it have a proper diet containing vegetables, is its cage cleaned often, is it often near humans, and are it’s toys replaced at least once a month. Before you come to this page make sure all of those problems are taken care of. Sometimes in-proper care is the only reason birds are aggressive.

Alright, you have a love bird that is absolutely 100% evil; it is so evil in-fact that it takes a great deal of time and effort just to remove your pet from its cage. So that is where we’ll start. If you lovebird will not leave its cage peacefully it is time to bring out the leather gloves (cotton and rubber don’t often work) simply pick up you bird and lift it out of the cage. That method will not work on birds laying on unfertilised eggs for them simply take out the nest and hold it 4-6 inches above the ground and your bird will gladly hop out.

The next step (and many people hate this) is to clip your birds wings many people don’t like this because they believe they are punishing the bird but more than anything your forcing it to trust you. Start by using your leather gloves to carry your love-bird to your bathroom, removing all hazards (put down toilet seat, close windows, etc) holding your bird in the palm of your so its feet are sticking up, stretching out one of its wings and clipping the black flight feather’s with nail clippers on the indicated line (you can cut below but not above).

Ok, you officially have a bird un-capable of flying away from you but it is still about as scared of you as you are of it. You can usually solve this problem pretty simply by placing your lovebird in a medium sized hamster ball and letting it roam free. The bird is more likely to try to interact with you because it is in the safety of the ball. If your bird spends enough time in the ball it should figure out that you are not trying to hurt it, after this happens the bird will not often try to hurt you either.

My final method (and probably the simplest) is to have your bird out often and constantly expose it to new people. An easy way to do this is to make or buy a small perch that has some food on it and place it by your computer and every once in a while talk to it in a calm voice, it is sure to bond with you.

Handy tips

-never let an un-tame bird sit on your shoulder

-never act aggressively to your bird (they remember everything)

-when making anything for your bird don’t use any metal other than stainless steel

-never disturb a bird with fertilised eggs

-have fun
