Before subjecting your child to dangerous drugs, learn about some other alternatives.

Attention Deficit Disorder is being diagnosed more frequently in children, sometimes even in adults. Unfortunately, sometimes children are being misdiagnosed and labaled as an Attention Deficit Disorder Case. Some children or even adults do have food intolerances which inhibit normal brain functioning. Sometimes a healthy diet could alleviate those symptoms.

In the meantime, medical researchers have come to a decision, that the classic symptoms of this disorder can include:

Making careless mistakes in schoolwork
Difficulty staying attentive
Not listening to what is being said
Difficulty organizing tasks and activities
Losing and/or misplacing items
Lack in self confidence

The true causes of Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) are still unknown. Some past researches suggest that ADD could be caused due to minor brain damage, such as head injury during childbirth. Others claim that young children exposed to lead paint could develop ADD. Some research even suggests that genetics play a big role.

After a doctor has diagnosed an individual with ADD stimulant medications are prescribed. While these medications will sometimes improve the condition, they come with a list of side effects such as insomnia, loss in appetite, change in personality, just to mention a few. Why would any parent subject their child to dangerous drugs? Don't these children deserve an alternative treatment?

Some naturopathic and alternative healers use a different approach to ADD. They believe in treating the disorder’s underlying causes. But if we don’t know the causes how could they treat them, is sure an interesting question to ask yourself?

Certain alternative therapies have shown very successful in treating ADD. Each of them have a different approach. While in some cases the symptoms were decreased significantly, in others they were eliminated completely. Some of these alternative treatment options include Vision Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Treatment of Allergies, and Craniosacral Therapy. Some parents have even reported improvements in their children through ancient healing methods.

Vision Therapy improves the visual skill to allow a child or adult to pay greater attention. When these skills are developed the individuals can focus more in debt, allowing them to make less mistakes.

Occupational Therapy focuses on helping children with sensory integration dysfunction. Through this type of therapy they will be able to pay more attention to the higher level senses of hearing and vision.

Treating allergies to pollen, molds, dust, food and even chemicals has been shown to alleviate symptoms of Attention Deficit Disorder.
