When it comes to naming your newborn, you'll find that it's either going to be very easy, or it's going to take some time. No matter what the case, here's what you can do, and not do.

Things to do and not to do

We all want that cute name for our baby, but think about this a minute. Do you like your name? Have you ever wished you could change your name? Maybe you have changed your name because you did not like what your parents called you. So, before you pick a name for your baby, think about that for a while. Also, when naming your baby, give a lot of thought to how many related or rhyming words that can be created from your baby's name. Children can be cruel and one of the first things they pick up on is a name. I know that for a fact, as I received the brunt end of a lot of ridicule because of my name.

Older kids picked on me just to make me mad, partially because of my name. Of course, it was the last name or surname that was chosen instead of my first name, but I still remember the harsh comments. In order to relieve a lot of tension, choose a name that is easy to pronounce. Were you ever in a class room and the teacher constantly mispronounced your name? Do you want your child to go through the same embarrassment? Popular names are also something I would suggest avoiding. Were you ever in a class room or other location with several other people who had your same name? But then there's the flip side. Extremely unique names are just as bad.
