Sometimes our children go through certain problems during their childhood where many of their neighbours would not have known at all. This could lead to a change in the child’s behaviour and would not improve situations. However, we need to realise and notice the changes in a child’s attitude to help us tackle the child abuse that is taking place.
What is a child abuse?
A Child abuse is the term used when an adult harms a child or a young person under the age of 18.
Child abuse can take four forms, all of which can cause long term damage to a child.
- Physically or mentally
- Bodily harm
- Emotional abuse
- Sexual abuse
- Bullying
- Domestic violence
- Neglects
1: What is Physical or Mental abuse?
Physical abuse: is when a both parents or outsider punches, hits, pushes the child hard, throws them down stairs, causes broken bones, bruising, or a knife any object that they may use to harm their child.
Mental abuse: is when a child is used as a pawn and back biting about other family, or
Being told you are “stupid”, “ugly”, and “lazy” or “worthless” is never acceptable. The first times you hear it, it will hurt, naturally. In time you “may get used to” hearing it from a parents. That’s when you start to internalize and believe it. When that happens you are doing the other person’s work of putting you down for them. This is why your feelings of self-worth suffer increasingly over time. You are always telling our child that it’s your fault. Somehow, whatever happens, however it starts, the ultimate blame is always our child, You’re child is more inclined to believe that they are to believe themselves, another way of telling our child will harm them by mentally they should never have been born.etc
What is Bodily harm?
Bodily harm: is when both parents harm their child deliberately hitting, shaking, throwing, poisoning, burning, drowning, suffocating or otherwise harming a child. Physical injury may also occur where someone knowingly fails to take action to protect a child from physical harm. Most children sustain accidental cuts and bruises throughout childhood. These are likely to occur in parts of the body like elbows, shins and knees. An important indicator of physical abuse is where the bruises or injuries are unexplained or the explanation does not fit the injury or the injury appears on parts of the body where accidental injuries are unlikely e.g. on the cheeks or thighs. The age of the child must also be considered. It is possible that some injuries may have occurred for other reasons e.g. skin disorders, rare bone diseases. Physical injury may also be caused when a parent feigns the symptoms of or deliberately causes ill health to a child whom they are looking after. This is known as Fabricated Fictitious Syndrome by Proxy. A parent may do this because they need or enjoy the attention they receive through having a sick child.
