Simplify Your Life: Get Organised

Taking control of your life requires just a simple re-organization and the determination to make improvements in the way you work and balance your home life. The time and effort you put into it guarantees rewards you can enjoy in a multitude of ways.

The beauty about being organized is that YOU are in charge. You get to decide what gets done, and when it gets finished. You also get to control the amount of organisation required; and with practice this will become more minimal each time a repetitive task is repeated. For example: always allowing mail to go unopened for days at a time will result in a huge pile of bills, junk mail and other post, to not only clutter your space, but to litter your mind with unfinished business. By dealing with your mail as, and when, it arrives, you are minimising the amount of time and effort involved at a later stage. The same applies to Inbox email.

Efficient planning shouldn’t be scary though. It’s simply about executing tasks in a reasonably organized way. And it’s surprising how much difference writing a simple to-do list can make to your life. All you are really doing is prioritising the things that require your attention, and possibly delegating those smaller jobs, to other people who could quite easily help you out. Yet, in so doing, you will feel like you have accomplished a major life re-structure!

Once you are into the swing of things you may want to take it up a notch. To be super-organized consider drawing yourself up a timetable. This could incorporate a week’s worth of tasks at a time, and will allow you the freedom of not having to overload yourself on any given day. For each day allow yourself to prioritise tasks according to importance, remembering to free up sufficient time to complete. So a busy shopping trip should involve plenty of time to browse through the stores, complete your purchases and still allow time for a coffee break. If you discover you are rushing from shop to shop, barely pausing for breath though, you will need to carefully adjust the next shopping day’s agenda. With each task list completed you’ll become more confident, and need to make fewer and fewer changes as time goes on. Before you know it you’ll be wondering how you ever managed to get things done without one.
