Hard work and diligence are the keys to successful weight loss, not those "Get Thin" schemes. If you lose weight quickly, chances are you are losing muscle rather than fat. If you really want to lose weight quickly, whether it be 50 lbs or 10 lbs, here are some suggestions that will also allow you to keep the weight off.

If you are looking to shed pounds quickly, you must make several changes to your lifestyle and eating habits quickly. Cut out sugar. Cut out fried, fast foods. Cut out refined, processed, prepackaged foods. Exchange these for rice, cous cous, or other grains, lean meats such as turkey or chicken, fruit and vegetables that are not saturated in butter or sugar. You must keep your body fueled, in order to burn the fat effectively.

Movement is key to burning fat. You could take on a job that requires manual labor, including bending, pulling, lifting, and carrying. Working outside, in your yard or garden, walking, and doing fitness DVD's, all can help to burn fat. Fat will burn when more calories are burnt than ingested. Increasing lean muscle mass will also help burn fat away. Mild to moderate weight training, with videos or at a local gym, is a necessity.

The best way to lose weight quickly is to take control of your condition and make the changes necessary, in as rapid succession as possible. Focus on a goal, such as a certain number of pounds per week, or a specific body type that you want to achieve. Use these goals as constant reminders, during the day, whenever temptations arise or you feel run down, and start to think you don't want to do this anymore. Get support from a friend.
