Here is a list of makeup tips and advice that will make your makeup sessions easy and trouble-free and at the same time make you look beautiful and glowing all day.

Foundation

  1. It's always difficult to choose the right shade of foundation for your skin tone. So, the next time you buy a foundation, try it out on just under your jawline instead of your wrist. Get a shade slightly lighter than your skin tone.
  2. If your eyes are puffy, don't apply concealer on the puffy area but instead apply just below the puffy area and blend. This will help to deemphasize the puffy eyes.
  3. A heavy, oil-based foundation can be diluted so that it will glide on more smoothly on your skin by adding a little moisturizer or salt-free mineral water to the foundation. Do the mixing on your palm or a small dish and not in the makeup container.

Blusher and powder

  1. To give yourself instant "glow" on one of those days, use blusher very lightly around the entire outer contour of your face; from the hairline to the chin. Blend with a cosmetic sponge.
  2. You can store loose powder in a shaker and shake it out on your palm. Use makeup brush to apply.

Eye makeup

  1. Liquid eyeliner will look harsh on the eyes when applied as a solid straight line on the eyelids. Try dotting it along the lash lines.
  2. Before sharpening your eyebrow, eyeliner and lip pencils, leave them in the freezer for an hour. You'll get a sharper point.
  3. Unruly brows can be tamed by applying a little styling gel or mousse with an eyebrow brush.

Lipsticks

  1. To ensure your lipstick stay much longer on your lips, do the following : use face powder on your lips, apply lipstick, apply powder again then apply your lipstick again. Wipe off any excess powder with a damp washcloth or a tissue.
  2. Don't throw away your broken lipstick. Repair it by slightly melting the bottom of the broken piece and the piece it must stick to with a cigarette lighter. Bond the broken pieces together and seal the edge with a clean matchstick or a toothpick. Put the lipstick in the refrigerator to harden the seal.

Removing makeup

  1. Don't ever go to sleep with your makeup on. No exception. Going to sleep with your makeup will not only dirty your pillow and sheets, it will not be good for your skin to have a layer of dirt, debris and dead skin cells stuck to your face while you're sleeping. Even if you don't wear makeup, it's good hygiene to cleanse your face before going to bed.
  2. Removing mascara can be quiet messy. What you can do is to wrap a tissue around your index finger and hold it just under the lower lashes. With your other hand, remove your mascara as usual.
