Position yourself for the coming economic recovery. Make money while you focus on your regular job and other activities.

A lot of people have lost their jobs and homes in the past 24 months since the global economic meltdown began. We have watched large corporations which we all considered industry icons collapse and go bankrupt.  We have seen the stock markets crash and all our investments gone with it. These three sentences highlighting the dismal state of things are some of the reasons why you should be able to Make Money While You Sleep. Now, you are probably wondering whether this author is insane or whether he or she just crawled out from under a rock. Why don’t you give yours truly a benefit of doubt by reading on? Before we go any further, here are some important foundation points to have at the back of your mind while you read this article:

  1. The economy has plummeted so much that the only way for it to go, is back up.
  2. The price of a lot of stocks on the stock market is at an all-time low.
  3. As people (and the economy) begin to recover from the economic depression, there will be an increased market for products.
  4. Since the recession began, internet traffic has increased by more than 25%.
  5. The people who profit from a type of business (or from any information, situation or opportunity) are the people who act or get in first.

The educated differ from the uneducated as much as the living from the dead” – Aristotle

So now that you have read the above points, what comes next? Well, here are some of the ways to make money while you sleep.

Invest in Stocks

If Warren Buffett were 30 years old again, this would be the time that he bought the stocks that made him so rich in his later years. There is a saying among seasoned stock investors that “profits are made on the stock market when you buy and not when you sell”. This seemingly paradoxical statement is the basis of investing in stocks because the only way to make money on the stock market is to BUY LOW and SELL HIGH. Well, there could not be a better time to buy low. Yes, companies are floundering and still, others are going under but stimulus packages are being handed out by governments and a lot of industries (and companies) are benefitting from them. Buying a stock now before everyone else decides to buy (which pushes the prices higher) is your best bet. Of course, you will have to do careful research into the companies whose stocks you decide to purchase and professional advice is always invaluable here. Remember, once you buy a stock, all you have to do is monitor its price changes and then sell whenever you are comfortable doing so. There could not be a better way of making money while you sleep.

Make Use of the Internet

The internet is one of the largest markets in the world right now. Setting up an internet-based business has a lot of advantages which include the following:

i. Access to a very large number of consumers from all over the world

ii. Low capital to set up your online business. Webhosting costs as low as $5 per month

iii. You can set up any number of businesses and offer any number of products or services that you want to

iv. You can easily link all your online businesses to each other thereby benefiting from visitor traffic to any of your websites

v. It does not require your physical presence

Point (v.) above is the reason why the internet should appeal most to you if you want to make money while you sleep.

Internet traffic has risen since the recession began because a lot of people are online searching for ways to alleviate the strain on their finances caused by the state of the economy (and because they also have a lot more time on their hands). Believe it or not, the economic downturn has created a new market and new businesses. Start a website or blog with the information that people are looking for online right now such as how to manage their debts, reduce their spending, find cheaper houses, find a job, find shopping bargains, make money from a home-based business, and so on. There are so many subjects out there to create a website on. Monetize the website by signing up for an advert publishing program like Google AdSense or Kontera. An advertising program like Google AdSense displays adverts on your website and you get paid for clicks on them.

As the economy recovers, people will have more money to spend. This is the time to create websites that will offer products and services for people looking to spend their money. You can a create a website and sign up for Amazon’s Affiliate Program that pays you a percentage of all purchases that are made from links on your website. There are a lot of other programs out there such as eBay and Clickbank. Remember, the earlier you create these websites the better they will do as search engines usually rank older websites better.

You might say that not all stocks will make profits and not all websites will be successful. That is absolutely true. So here is another way to make money while you sleep: Writing Articles Online. Write articles and submit to sites that pay for article page views such as Bukisa, AssociatedContent, Helium, Triond, and etc. These articles will make money for you as long as they are published online and as long as you write good articles that attract a lot of traffic.

“When a child washes his hands, he is allowed to eat with kings” – African Proverb

Remember that the earlier you get in, the better positioned you are to make money. Following these tips should allow you to make money while you keep your regular job or carry out other businesses. For good measure, never forget this:
