Information On Projects Made Of 2 x 4s

There are several projects that can be made from 2-by-4 pieces of wood. Some are easier than others, but the cost of the wood is a little less expensive that other types of wood and you have more choices when it comes to making your own furniture as well.

Types:

A few types of projects to consider are large wooden reindeer, a dog house, a picnic table, benches, storage sheds and bookcases. Bunk beds and bed frames can be made from 2-by-4s as well. Each of these also use other products such as paint, stain, wood glue and plywood.

Time Frame:

Each project will vary in how long they take to complete. If you are new to wood projects, then they may take approximately 2 to 3 days. As the projects become larger and more labor intensive, the time to complete them may actually be 7 to 10 days. Also, the time to complete a project will depend on drying time and the amount of space you have to work with as well.

Tools Needed:

When you begin any of these projects you will also need wood tools. These can include a table saw, router, band saw, drill press, miter saw, nail gun, chisels and electric sander. Make sure to have all the tools before you start, so that the project does not become delayed half way through.

Benefits:

Making your own furniture or decorations can save you money and the fact that they are well made products that will last for years to come. Also, you can customize to your space and needs, as well as adding details and designs to them, that will not be found in conventional stores.

Warning:

You do want to follow all the safety instructions when using power tools and completing these projects. Know the tools you are working with, wood tools can be dangerous and understanding how they operate and the safety procedures will ensure there are no accidents and no one else in the household is injured as well.
