Self Improvement One-O-One

In this time of economic and productive malaise, it might be a good time to take some time to "look at yourself." It may even be "happening" to you when you didn't even expect it! The times are good for a Self Improvement Tour.

With the slowed economy at hand, the Fast Lane, has become Leisure Lane. Not that we are all now living a life of leisure, but I suspect we each have a bit more time to ourselves in between the job searching, online money marketing, writing online articles, creative shopping with less money (or less we want to spend), and time with or without the family.

This list certainly sounds like a lot to do but I am suggesting that with a slower pace of economy and industry, we in turn have a slower pace from what we were doing awhile ago also. If the search is for a job, time has been shifted to looking at newspapers, online job searching, bulletin boards, etc. In the process you are seeing things you didn’t take time to look at before. New ideas are drifting their way into your mind. Your mind is “opening.”

You are probably even starting to ask the ultimate question: “What do I really want to do?” When you were so busy, did you stop to ask what you really wanted to do? If you were (or are) working in a field you do enjoy, you may be placed in the position of reinventing who you are in the job, or who you can be in a new version of the same field; including your own endeavor (business).

The questions don’t stop with what you want to do for work either. The questions go deep. “What do I want to do with my life?” Or my relationships…with spouse, significant other, kids, friends, neighbors…”Who am I?” is a good one. As tough a time as it is and may continue to be for awhile to come, we are fortunate perhaps to get a break from the frantic lifestyle we were engulfed in, and ask these questions.

In a sense, the doors to new adventure are there to open. Maybe by choice, maybe by force. Either way a new view of things is just on the other side. Naturally the new view can be good, or it can be bad. I’m sure you have already sensed the outlook of this article will be looking for the brand new open and beautiful fields that lay beyond the next door. (I had to put the bad part in because some people, maybe even a lot of people, will look at it that way). Don’t get me wrong either in the fact that for many people, it will be problematic, no matter how you approach the next “scene” in life, crap does happen.

It’s an essential time, to take time, to explore the realms of “self-improvement.” The term might better be served delivered as “attitude adjustment.” As many times as you have heard the phrase, attitude is everything, look at it again, because it is. Good things come from a good attitude. Bad things come from a bad attitude. Let’s even call it a “Positive” attitude. Now we’re getting some where. A positive attitude will make positive things happen.

Now add the ability to “Visualize.” If you can see it, you can do it. Sounds simple enough, but think about it…if you can see it…you can do it. Tied together with a positive attitude, you can do anything! Great Things! Isn’t that what we are all here to do? I hope so.

As we move away from the “ME” era and transition into the “US” era…”can’t we all just get along?”… No, that’s not what I mean. I mean these times where we actually do have/take time to think beyond just ourselves and think about what can I do, what can We do? Doing things for others is in fact doing things for ourselves as well. That’s the time we are heading into. Take the opportunity now to improve upon the best tool you have, yourself…your mind.
