Female Cartoon Characters- My Favorites
10 of the best female cartoon characters ever drawn.
My Favorites
Female cartoon characters have been portrayed through out the history of cartoons. The evolution of the female cartoon has changed with the times from the sexy Betty Boop to the Japanese Animation of Sailor Moon characters today. Some of the most memorable cartoon characters of the female gender are still favorites today although they don't appear on television as much as they used too.
Here are 10 of my favorite female cartoon characters in no particular order:
Betty Boop:
The sexy femme fatale created by Fleischer Studios is still one of the sexiest female cartoon characters in the world today. She might be 78 years old but she is still one beautiful cartoon. Starting off as a canine cartoon with feminine attributes she evolved into the beautiful Betty many know and adore.
Olive Oyl:
This lady has been around since 1919 when she arrived in comic strips. Girlfriend to Popeye, victim of Bluto and mother to Swee'Pea her memorable moments include fights with Popeye, her fickleness, her beautifully large feet and her amazingly quick wit. This tall lanky woman won't soon be forgotten.
Smurfette:
The original female character of the television cartoon The Smurfs. Smurfette was the only woman among many male Smurfs. She was created by the Smurfs archenemy Gargamel in the comic to cause Jealousy and disruption in the Smurf community. This did not work the way it was planned and Smurfette became an important part of the Smurf community.
Jessica Rabbit:
This lovely well endowed lady was featured in the film "Who framed Roger Rabbit?" This leading lady was the obsession of Roger Rabbit and many others. She is one of the top sex symbols of cartoons through out history.
She- Ra:
Twin sister to He-Man and the Princess of Power She-Ra was created to be the cartoon appeal to little girls the way He-Man was to little boys. She-Ra was a strong feminine character who had a healing touchy, superhuman strength and the ability to communicate with animals. Little girls everywhere looked up to this cartoon heroine.
Wonder Woman:
One of the founders of the Justice League, Wonder Woman encompassed all little girls wanted to be. Sexy, Smart, Strong and Liberated she is a hero to little girls and women all over the world. Her costume included the unbreakable Bracelets of Victory, the Lasso of Truth and gilded battle armor.
Cheetara:
She was the only female adult Thundercat until later series when Pumrya arrived. Cheetara was a female warrior based on the cheetah. She was warm, loving and caring. She was often the voice of reason in the cartoon and had a sixth sense about danger and evils nearby.
Miss Piggy:
She started as a Muppet but also became a cartoon star when the cartoon Muppet Babies premiered. Even as a Baby Miss Piggy was a star and destined for the stardom she received.
Jem:
Her name was Jessica Parrington and her alter ego was Jem. Jem was a female rock and roll star that was the rock and roll equivalent to Barbie. She had a great personality and was a sweet girl but once she put on the earrings her father left her she would transform into Jem the cool rocker.
Judy Jetson:
She was the teenage girl child of George and Jane Jetson. Judy wore the popular style, had the coolest clothes, talked on the phone constantly and loved the popular band Jet Screamers of the time. She encompassed what almost every teenage girl is and does. Judy Jetson will long be remembered.
All of these female cartoon characters can be found on past television shows or on new updated DVD's that compile episodes of old television programs. These are just a few of the favorite women in cartoons that I have admired.
