These spooky formulas to brew up your own horrifying Halloween effects, fake blood, hairy warts and horrible bruises.

Halloween Makeup – Do it yourself

Fake Blood

You’ll need:

½ bottle of light corn syrup, very hot tap water, a squirt of liquid soap, red color food coloring, blue or green food coloring (optional)

Instructions:

Pour the light corn syrup into a bowl. Add hot water sparingly, adding and stirring until you have the right consistency (you want it to be pretty thick, but runny enough to drip down your face or arm, just like blood). Add a squirt of liquid soap to make it the blood easy to clean off later. Tint the mixture with red food coloring. You may add a drop of blue or green if you like to make the blood a darker color. Store the mixture in the refrigerator until ready to use. Smear on as needed. This fake blood will stain your clothing, so don’t wear anything good.

Hairy Warts

You’ll need:

Whole peppercorns white or black, corn syrup, hair bristles from a paintbrush or out of your hair brush, non toxic water color paints

Instructions:

Use the corn syrup to glue peppercorns to your face. Keep peppercorns away from your eyes. You may have to hold the peppercorns in place until the syrup is dry. Dip one end of the hairs in the syrup and attach them to peppercorns, so they look hairy. Use the paints to tint them creepy colors.

Horrible Bruises

You’ll need:

Deep blue powder eye shadow, charcoal or smoke grey powder eye shadow, shimmery green powder eye shadow, a makeup brush

Instructions:

Dampen your makeup brush with a little bit of water, dip it in your deep blue powder eye shadow and apply it wherever you want to place a bruise. Then use your fingertips to add blots of charcoal gray. Touch up the edges with a shimmery olive green. Smudge the bruise to complete it.
