Article marketing

Article marketing is essentially advertising that involves the writing of short articles pertaining to a business’ or person’s industry, niche, or product.  They are then made available to the respective marketplace via mail, and/or the internet. Generally the article will discuss an area of expertise or discuss current information surrounding news releases, business decisions, and owner/author information.  Sometimes the article will contain a bio and a byline that will present the reader with references and a way for the reader to contact the discussed business or person.  These articles are generally well-written and contain pertinent information that the targeted reader base will undoubtedly find informative, thus building a brand name around the subject of the article and hopefully increasing the company’s/person’s client base.

One of the main ways that article marketing is used today is through online resources.  There are many websites which will allow for the upload of articles free of any cost to the author.  These sites are generally referred to as an article directory.  Sometimes the article directory site allows for use of any of the submitted articles on any website so long as the website owner leaves the original author’s information on the article once its been duplicated.  This allows for exposure that the author normally wouldn’t have had.  Sometimes there is a link to the original author’s website thus creating more site visits and links which will help the site with its SEO (search engine optimization) efforts.

SEO focused article marketing is imperative in today’s tech savvy world.  Almost every business has a website where its clients/customers can either buy its products or obtain contact information.  Obviously, this information is an asset when trying to build popularity among those customers who are interested in the business’ services.  However, if the business can’t drive traffic to its website then how does it get word out about its wonderful services or products?  This is where article marketing comes into play.  If the author wants to promote their bird cage building business, then they would want to use words throughout the article that people might type into a search engine such as Google.  The author may include the words custom, bird cage, pet bird, pet enclosure, etc in their article.  This will allow search engines to crawl the article and find words that match or are relevant to what someone types into a search engine.  When the results show up, the article will hopefully be listed as one of the first couple results allowing for more exposure to targeted clients and customers.

Overall, article marketing enables the author, business owner, or company to distribute their message to clients who normally may not have been reached through standard marketing efforts.  If done right, article marketing is a valuable resource for anyone trying to build or strengthen their market share.
